The National Veterans Opportunity Coalition, which is based in Gilbert, Arizona, has announced a new addition to their board. The organization has recently appointed Tom Sheets as a new board member. Sheets is a retired colonel in the United States Marine Corps and is currently president of The Stonewall Group, LLC. He is also Executive Director of the Southwest Veterans Chamber of Commerce and Foundation. More about the new board appointment can be seen at http://tnvoc.org/board-of-directors/.
Benjamin Fatola with the Coalition says, "We are honored to have Tom with us, and we look forward to be able to work with him in pushing our organization forward."
Tom retired from the US Marine Corps in 1999 after serving 26 1/2 years as an Infantry Officer. While in the Marine Corps he commanded every size infantry unit from a Platoon of 40 to a Regiment of over 3500 Marines and Sailors. He also commanded a Marine Corps Recruiting Station and the Marine Corps Institute at Marine Barracks 8 th & I, in Washington, DC. Other significant assignments include Director of Operations, Plans, and Training for a 20,000 person Marine Division and Chief of Staff/Deputy Commander for a 16,000 person Marine Division.
"We feel that he will be an invaluable addition to our board," says Fatola.
After retiring, he worked in the resort development and management industry for six years, including serving as president of two wholly-owned subsidiaries of a publicly-traded, international corporation. He also served as Director of Strategic Plans for the Expeditionary Operations business unit of L-3 Communications (then the 6th largest defense contractor), Vice President of Government Services for Proofpoint Systems, Inc., and Chief Executive Officer of DBT Defense (formerly Diamondback Tactical) in Peoria, AZ.
He is currently the Founder and President of The Stonewall Group, LLC, a Phoenix-based Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. For the last eight years, it has focused on helping organizations overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. Their clients include companies and businesses that are both small and large including public, private and nonprofit domestic and international companies.
Tom is originally from Duncannon, PA, and has a BA from Gettysburg College and an MA from Shippensburg University. He got involved in the SWVCC because, after serving 26 1/2 years in the Marine Corps, serving and supporting veterans was a corps value.
