The Disaster Response Team is now introducing hurricane preparedness for commercial property owners.

The aim of the full service restoration company is to increase the awareness of people to preparation as the best protection against any danger brought by a hurricane.

Certain approaches are needed for the hurricane season including planning consisting of an evacuation plan. This helps ensure that people will get to safety in the event that a hurricane affects the area. Since a hurricane or a tropical storm is unstoppable, several steps to be presented by the company will help protect their commercial properties.

Tropical cyclones are believed to be among the most destructive and most powerful phenomena, especially in Florida which is more prone to tornadoes, destructive winds and flooding. Through the hurricane preparedness introduced by the company, they can all be prepared for it.

A pre-written action plan will be given by employers to their employees. The plan will push them further take initial action within their space before they leave the office.

Among those actions to be carried out as part of the plan include securing loose items like staplers, reams of paper, scissors and more. Valuable items also need to be contained in a locked or safe area. Other equipments and computers must be turned off immediately before going out of the room. Customer files also need be placed securely into a locked and safe area.

In addition, two to five people must be assigned as part of the emergency task force to oversee and perform other precautions before the major hurricane or storm. Inventory of the assets, equipments and offices is also needed. Flashlights, emergency supplies and batteries inside the office must also be checked out completely. The windows and the doors must also be secured during the emergency situation.

The removal of items like chairs, boxes and plants must is also necessary to alleviate water damages. As per the staff members, they must be send home due to their safety as a number one priority.

“Through hurricane preparedness, this we believe will help commercial property owners. This is also our one way of giving back to our clients who remain loyal in our services. We believe that through this initial planning, they can be more prepared before the storm strikes.”- Mark Broersma

It is expected that more commercial property owners will be interested in following the hurricane preparedness introduced by the company for their safety and security.
