LipsigLawyers.com reports on the unexpected death of a Danbury, CT contractor who sustained fatal injuries due to electrocution on June 9th. As stated by TheHour.com investigations are ongoing and could take a number of months before they are completed. The Southwest CT area director for OSHA has stated the agency is currently assessing the incident and is compiling the facts of the case. The agency is also awaiting the results of the autopsy report which can take a significant amount of time to complete, sometimes as long as 6 to 8 weeks in some cases.

The Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) has released information showing that deaths from electrocution are the second leading cause of death for construction workers in the country. Construction worker fatalities resulting from electrocution comprised 8 percent of all worker fatalities in 2014 equating to 74 deaths.

OSHA is a federal agency committed to ensuring the health and safety of over 130 million workers in the United States. It operates in all 50 states through an organization of 10 regional offices and 90 locally-based offices. The agency is significantly understaffed with only 2,200 safety inspectors. Given the vast number of workers the agency oversees, each inspector is responsible for 59,000 workers.

Attorney Thomas Moverman of LipsigLawyers.com responded to the death of the CT construction worker stating that he supports strengthening rules and regulations for the construction industry in order to create a safer work environment for those workers who face dangers on a daily basis.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman have been representing victims of construction accidents for years. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding. The firm has successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believes in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident and qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation.
