LipsigLawyers.com reports on an incident that occurred on June 13th involving a trench collapse during which a 28-year old man was crushed. As per an account by KAALTV.com, Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office received a distress call at 2:45 p.m. and upon their arrival found the man buried in a trench that had collapsed. Recovery of the man's body took approximately 5 hours since the ground at the trench site was very unstable. The name of the victim is not known but officials have confirmed that he resides out of state.

Attorney Thomas Moverman of LipsigLawyers.com commented on the incident and extended his condolences to the family of the deceased man. Attorney Moverman stated that there is no dollar amount that can compensate a family for the loss of a loved one. He is hopeful that federal regulators take note of the accident along with the increasing number of accidents that have happened involving construction workers. He further stated that he hoped regulators would also recognize the importance of enhancing rules and regulations to help better ensure the safety of construction workers.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has concluded that in 2014 almost 5,000 job-related deaths have occurred, with an average in excess of 92 deaths per week. Of the total work-related fatalities in 2014 deaths of construction workers comprised 20 percent of that total, which is equal to 900 construction workers sustaining fatal injuries.

Additionally, the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) has released information showing that almost 58 percent of construction worker deaths resulted from the "Fatal Four." The "Fatal Four" has taken the lives of 518 construction workers and includes fatalities resulting from falls, electrocutions, being struck by an object, or being caught in or in between equipment.
