LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman stated recently that one of the latest fatalities in construction is yet another tragedy to add to the growing problem of construction worker safety. Moverman offered his condolences to the family of the victim.

The man, described by ABC7 as a middle-aged man between 40 and 50 years old, was killed as he was standing on top of a cherry picker. Several people witnessed the accident as the man made contact with the concrete ceiling. He was immediately brought down and pronounced dead at the scene. The death is being investigated by police’s Traffic Collision Investigation Unit and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, according to the article.

Construction workers are at a constant risk of being injured on the job. In non-fatal incidents, common injuries have included fractured or broken bones, spinal injuries and brain injuries. The most frequent causes of injury include falls from ladders, slips, trips, and scaffolding accidents.Death was the result of 933 construction-related accidents in the U.S in 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Since 2011, that number has steadily increased.
