Safe Kids Now and the CARR Foundation in the San Francisco Bay Area recently released a new program for community leaders that is designed to prevent youth violence and get youth involved. Violence is a growing issue in neighborhoods across every city in the nation, and thousands of youth are affected every day by this trend.

"Juvenile violence can be stopped!" says Stephanie Mann, CEO of Safe Kids Now. "Many cities have led the way with pockets of success. Now city leaders can bring the whole community together for positive change to create a healthy balance between citizens and police."

"You can see our program at http://www.safekidsnow.com," states Mann. The Youth Violence Prevention program includes a crime quiz, used to educate citizens about potential crime, the Adopt-A-Block Program, a survey that can be used to evaluate needs and determine a course of action, a power point presentation and informational CDs that explain how and when to implement violence prevention.

"Democracy depends on citizen participation. We can strengthen families to prevent juveniles from taking drugs, becoming violent, joining gangs or ISIS," says Mann.

Stephanie Mann is a crime and violence prevention specialist and has served as consultant with criminal justice agencies, police and citizen groups, and various politicians since the mid-1970s.

She has assisted a number of city leaders in strengthening their communities and supporting their youth, and she encourages neighborhoods to take ownership of their communities, which can reduce fear, social isolation and prevent youth violence before it begins.

Neighborhood Watch members or citizens in general can gain more information about the program by visiting Safe Kids Now, a community effort focused on promoting healthier and happier neighborhoods by eliminating violence in and around communities.

Safe Kids Now provides resources, workshops, teleconferences calls with guest speakers to help communities learn more about the potential for violence and how to effectively prevent it from affecting members. Statistics show that violence is on the increase in most metropolitan areas, as well as rural neighborhoods. The program is designed to help these neighborhoods learn how to prevent violence and educate citizens on what they should look for, how they should handle issues, and how violence can be eradicated from their neighborhoods safely and effectively.
