Serenity Art And Music Studio Announces Children's Summer Music Camp

Music school, Serenity Art and Music Studio, occupying an office space in Freeway West Property, is now offering signups for, "Mini Music Camps for Minis," an upcoming day-camp for children three to seven-years-old.

Serenity Art and Music Studio offers piano and violin lessons for students of all ages. The studio founded by Jessica Gensmer, who wanted a place to create and teach her craft. Gensmer is a professional musician and music teacher, playing piano for over 20 years.

Gensmer’s approach to teaching piano and violin is strongly rooted in note reading and theory training. For beginner students, her approach is a more traditional, classical and a cerebral method, building a foundation for learning music-theory. As students become proficient at note reading, technique, and theory, Gensmer is committed to take them into whichever style(s) they are interested in learning.

Within the first month of lessons, Gensmer and each student decide on a set of short-term and long-term musical goals. As these goals get completed, students are encouraged to have some input into their musical direction.

“Being goal-oriented and active participants in their musical curriculum is an excellent way to motivate and keep students interested in lessons,” says Gensmer.

Once a student has reached a level of basic proficiency through their various goals, they can, for example, slow down their concentration on solo music and begin to learn how to accompany, or learn basic jazz techniques, or learn improvisational techniques.

The upcoming Mini Music Camp is a three-day event from 9:30AM-12:00PM for three to seven-year-olds to learn important music basics, have a chance to perform with real instruments, do musical crafts, eat snacks, and meet other children with similar interests.  These camps will be hosted in the Serenity studio on June 23rd – 25th, and on July 14th – 16th.
