An epic, world class battle is about to take place this coming May 2, at the MGM Garden Arena, between two power house fighters – American boxer Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Filipino fighter Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. Hailed the Fight of the Century, the world is about to see two exemplary boxers go head to head. Floyd Mayweather remains undefeated at 47-0, as the world’s seventh highest paid athlete while Manny sits on #11 worldwide. The latter has 57 belts across eight weight divisions, the only boxer to hold that achievement to his name.
It is but apt that two of the world’s best fighters also be part of history. The Fight of the Century has so far seen many firsts, including the riches fight in history, with seats at USD $1000 to USD $7000 and pay per view at USD $ 100. Other sources of revenue are expected to flood in from betting, merchandise, closed circuit viewing and of course, sponsors.
Celebrities Mark Wahlberg and Sean Combs have recently publicly declared a USD $250,000 wager with the former rooting for Manny Pacquiao and the latter on the Money Team.
After five years of back and forth negotiation, fans are obviously wound up in anticipation to see the Fight of the Century happen. It doesn’t help that recent ruckus over unsigned contracts and the absence of paper ticket sales is only making people even more eager for the fight to come into fruition. Unfortunately, only 500 and 1000 paper tickets were made available to the public, all of which were gone and swept up in 60 seconds after they went on the market. Even if there were more, fans have got to be high-rollers, as each came at an equally high price – USD $100,000 roughly. Those who can’t afford to watch the fight live, or was not fortunate enough to purchase the tickets, can get a sight of the two powerhouse boxers by buying a ticket for the weigh-in. It sells for only USD $10 but all proceeds go to charitable institutions Susan Komen Foundation and the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.
Then comes an interrupted and disrupted press conference call between Arum, Pacquiao and the press. Arum had decided to discontinue with the conference, citing that he was never comfortable in doing the interviews in the first place.
A special belt worth USD $1000 was made to honor the winner of this once in a lifetime match.

The Manny Pacquiao – Floyd Mayweather super fight will be refereed by no less than the Kenny Bayless, who will earn USD $25,000, while judges Dave Moretti, Burt Clements and Glenn Feldman take home USD $20,000 each.
